The Coastal Rivers Baptist Association (CRBA) in Ludowici, GA is prayerfully seeking a full-time Associational Missionary to serve our network of 40 Southern Baptist churches across six counties in beautiful Southeast Georgia (Liberty, Long, Wayne, McIntosh, Bryan, and Brantley).

Associational Missionary (AM) Job Description

Principal Function:

To lead the Coastal Rivers Baptist Association in planning, coordinating, conducting, and evaluating a total program of associational work among its member churches, strengthening the mission of making disciples and advancing the Kingdom of God.

I. Expected Qualifications

  1. Spiritual Qualifications
  • Be a committed follower of Jesus Christ, meeting the biblical qualifications of a minister as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
  • Be fully supportive of the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  • Exhibit a clear sense of calling to missions and associational ministry.
  1. Educational and Professional Qualifications
  • Sufficient formal training and ministry leadership experience to effectively serve churches in various capacities.
  1. Associational and Denominational Alignment
  • Possess a deep understanding of local associational life and practical ministry.
  • A history of cooperation with a local association, the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, and the Southern Baptist Convention.
  • Become a member of a CRBA member church within 1 year of employment.
  1. Skills and Competencies
  • Strong communication, relational, leadership, organizational, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • A willingness to learn new skills and grow in competency.

II. Responsibilities

  1. Administrative Leadership
  • Provide day-to-day administrative leadership for the association and its employees.
  • Assist committees and teams of the Association in planning, promoting, and administering the associational budget.
  • Maintain office management, financial stewardship, and personnel supervision, ensuring the association runs efficiently and ethically.
  1. Church and Pastoral Support
  • Enlist and mobilize individuals from churches within the association to assist in the work of the association.
  • Regularly visit associational churches and pastors to encourage, consult, and aid in their ministry.
  • Assist pastors and churches in strengthening their relationships and ministry effectiveness. 
  1. Church Growth, Revitalization, and Planting
  • Lead the association in strategic planning for present and future growth.
  • Assist churches as they seek to plant new congregations or replant declining ones.
  • Serve as a resource person for churches pursuing revitalization or new work.
  1. Denominational and External Relationships
  • Serve as the official spokesperson for the association.
  • Represent the association to the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, Southern Baptist Convention, and other outside organizations, maintaining effective partnerships.
  • Inform CRBA churches of new resources, needs, opportunities, and programs.
  1. Unity and Cooperation Development
  • Foster an atmosphere of unity and cooperation among member churches.
  • Strengthen relationships among the churches by encouraging cooperation and collaboration in missions, ministry projects, training events, and evangelism efforts.
  1. Missions Mobilization
  • Oversee the missions programs of the Association, promoting mission engagement locally, statewide, nationally, and globally.
  • Lead the association to engage the lost through coordinated outreach efforts.
  1. Conflict Resolution and Mediation
  • Mediate and help resolve conflict involving churches, pastors, or congregations when called upon, offering biblical and practical guidance.
  1. Training and Development
  • Train churches, pastor search committees, deacons, and church leaders on current best practices for leadership development and hiring processes.
  • Lead regular pastor gatherings, fostering relationships, pastoral training, and personal development.
  1. Community Awareness
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the cultural and societal challenges facing churches today, offering biblical guidance to help pastors and congregations respond faithfully and wisely to issues in their communities.

III. Accountability

The Associational Missionary shall be accountable to the Coastal Rivers Baptist Association Executive Committee.
