Seeking Hispanic Church Planting Residents

Dawson Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama is seeking candidates for a Hispanic church planting residency. Following a successful residency, Dawson will serve as the sending church for church plants to follow.  The first church plant following residency will become the third-generation Hispanic plant for Dawson. Twenty-seven years ago Dawson planted our Hispanic congregation using a “church-within a church” model and in 2019, we planted our second Hispanic church, Iglesia Bautista Vida Nueva, north of Birmingham.  Our goal is to plant eight additional Hispanic churches in Alabama before 2025.

This residency will last approximately twelve months followed by a church plant launch six months later.  The primary residency mentor will be the pastor of Vida Nueva, Joshua del Risco. Church plant locations will be determined by need for churches in specific Alabama cities and ministry calling.

Dawson will provide financial support during the residency and for the first four years with the expectation that other funding will be secured as well. The Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions will also provide financial support.

Send application and resume to Ben Hale, Dawson’s Missions Pastor, at bhale@dawsonchurch.org.
