            The role of Full Time Associate Pastor of Family Ministries is to bring vision, energy, and training to the family ministries of First Baptist Church as they seek to share the Gospel with next generations. In partnership with the rest of the staff, the family minister will oversee the student ministry, work on raising up small groups, and provide training to parents as they seek to disciple their children and students. They will be actively involved in the mission of the church to help people Belong in community, Believe in Jesus as their Savior and Lord, and Become a disciple making disciple.

 

Responsibilities: 

Student Ministry

  • Plan a Student Calendar to facilitate the discipling of students through various on campus, off campus, and abroad activities
  • Make inroads with the middle and high schools
  • Maintain a relationship with the school administrators that will allow for a working relationship
  • Be in and around the schools regularly
  • Appropriately counsel both students and parents
  • Create service opportunities with schools for all ages
  • Plan student Bible studies and worship services as appropriate
  • Disciple the volunteers in the student ministry
  • Be present at student events
  • Work with Manchester High on Baccalaureate each May

 

Parents

  • Work with parents as they disciple students
  • Create opportunities for parents, students, and children to serve together
  • Be a resource to parents as an intermediary between them and their children

 

Small Groups

  • Oversee the planning of groups throughout the year
  • Train-up new teachers to launch more small groups
  • Help provide suggestions for small group topics based on different styles through DVD, book, or RightNow Media

 

Other Ministries

  • Partner with the other staff members to plan services, and churchwide events
  • Be able to preach and teach based on need
  • Work as the staff liaison with Lime Light Academy
  • Visit members
  • Advocate for the vision of the church based on meetings with the staff and deacons
  • Be an active participant in church communication
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Requirements:

  • An active follower of Jesus Christ
  • At least 3 years of ministry experience
  • Ability to work with multiple generations
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to manage volunteers
  • A bachelor’s degree

 

Preferred:

  • Higher education or working towards higher education
  • Experience in parachurch ministries
  • High level of previous community involvement
  • Willingness to preach
  • Prayer warrior
