General Purpose: The Youth Pastor’s primary The Youth Pastor’s primary function will be to supervise and direct the Student Ministry of the church, which includes students in grades 6 through college and their families.

Supervision: Reports to the Pastor

Time Expectations: Full Time, Exempt Employee 

Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a related field from an accredited institution, seminary degree preferred 

Qualifications:

  • Be a baptized believer with professed faith in Jesus Christ for at least 5 years
  • Meet the qualifications of an elder/overseer set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1
  • Affirm the Baptist Faith and Message, 2000 
  • Become a member of FBCS and fulfill all expectations of church membership
  • Submit to a criminal background check and a credit check

Responsibilities:

Student Ministry Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and administer all Student Ministry (6th grade – college) programs, calendar, and budget.
  • Enlist, train, and equip student ministry adult leaders/volunteers.
  • Develop and implement a disciple-making strategy within the Student Ministry.
  • Develop and implement a mission and evangelism strategy within the Student Ministry.
  • Train and equip parents to become the primary disciple-makers in their families.
  • Build relationships with and provide pastoral care to students and their families.
  • Develop and maintain an active presence in local schools.
  • Share in worship leadership as gifts, interests, and needs allow, under the direction of the Pastor or Minister of Music.
  • Be available to preach on Sunday mornings in absences of the Pastor.
  • Assist the Pastor with pastoral care, including visitation, counseling, weddings, funerals, etc.
  • Be available to represent FBCS at community and civic functions.

General Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain regular office hours, realizing that ministry often requires time beyond or in addition to the regular work day.
  • Support of the entire church ministry and activities, including:
    • Attendance at all staff meetings
    • Regular attendance at Sunday services
    • Participation in Vacation Bible School 
    • Participation in church-wide special events
  • Work with the staff in accomplishing the Mission and Vision of FBCS. 
  • Represent FBCS in a positive light in the community. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.
