Job Description of Part-Time Music Minister

Spring Branch Baptist Church – Baxley, GA

 

About the role of the part-time Music Minister:

The Music Minister is responsible to the Pastor and is to model, serve, and lead the body

of Christ in worship, discipleship, and outreach through the Music and Worship

ministries of the church.

 

  1. Personal Characteristics
  • Is able to create an atmosphere of genuine worship for the congregation.
  • Has a strong commitment to the vision of the overall ministry of Spring Branch Church.
  • Is responsible for growing the Music and Worship Ministry.
  • Has a willingness to lead as a servant, according to 2 Timothy 2:23-26.
  • Possesses the ability to communicate with, relate to, and minister to the congregation by developing appropriate and professional relationships with the members of the Music and Worship Ministry, as well as those who may attendand visit Spring Branch Baptist Church.
  • Has a strong work ethic (reliable, dependable, and punctual).
  • Supports and encourages members of this local assembly.

 

The Music Minister will:

  • Commit to positive relationships and communication with the Pastor and other staff leaders.
  • Develop a music program that is consistent with the long-range vision of the Pastor.
  • Organize, coordinate, communicate, implement, and evaluate total Worship and Music ministry with the assistance of church staff, volunteers, etc.

 

Congregational Leadership

  • Work with the Pastor and other appropriate leadership in developing and implementing a meaningful worship experience for the congregation.
  • Prepare the worship plan for each weekly service.
  • Coordinate music for revivals and other church-wide events when needed.
  • Coordinate specialized music (Christmas, Easter, etc.).

 Technology and Sound

  • Coordinate with church staff and lay people the operation of sound systems and projection for weekly worship services and other special events.
  • Evaluate needs for Music Ministry related to technology.
  • Print and distribute service outlines to Pastor, musicians, and A/V team by Friday of each week.

 Instrumental/Choral Leadership

  • Coordinate the enlistment, development, and training of instrumentalists.
  • Coordinate the enlistment, development, and training of vocalists for the ministry of the Sanctuary Choir, praise team (vocal ensemble) and solo work.
  • Facilitate weekly or bi-weekly rehearsals (choir and band).
  • Plan long-term and short-term goals of musical selections and ministry opportunities.
  • Provide music for choir and instrumental members as needed.
  • Provide consistent communication.

 Ministerial Leadership

  • Be aware of spiritual needs of the ministry area.
  • Be consistent in contacting membership.
  • Be active in discipleship and encouragement.
  • Be active in attending Leadership Meetings.
  • Be in consistent, fervent prayer for the church, its ministries, and the Worship and Music ministry.
