Student Pastor Job Description

MINISTRY PURPOSE

The Student Pastor is responsible for the development and coordination of a biblical program focusing on the spiritual needs of middle and high school students within context of the Kiokee Baptist vision statement. (Colossians 1:28-29, 1 Timothy 4:12)

QUALITIES & APTITUDES

  • Must be a born again, baptized, committed disciple of Jesus Christ with a passion for reaching unbelievers
  • Graduate of a college or university, and a seminary degree preferred
  • Experience serving in student ministry
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and group communication skills
  • Connect and bridge information across age groups
  • Enthusiastic and passionate about student ministry
  • Conflict management skills
  • Counseling skills
  • Moderate administrative skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Disciple youth into a personal relationship with Jesus
  • Mentor youth to develop leadership skills
  • Build a team of adult leaders to help mentor and disciple
  • Support and assist parents in the process of discipling their youth
  • Equip youth to share the gospel with their friends and family
  • Be an advocate for youth in the church about the ministry's hopes, needs, and concerns
  • Partner with schools and other organizations for outreach
  • Communicate regularly with parents and students using all available resources
  • Counsel, encourage, and challenge students to live effective lives for Jesus in times of crisis
  • Coordinate discipling group and mid-week curriculum and activities
  • Ensure that Child Protection Policy is observed in all Student Ministry settings
  • Oversee student ministry budget
  • Consult and coordinate with the director of Children's Ministry
  • Coordinate short-term mission opportunities for students
  • Coordinate events and activities
  • Other duties as assigned
