The Minister of Children is to serve the families of the church by directing all aspects of Children’s Ministry and by serving parents by assisting them as the primary disciple makers for the home.  He/She will serve on the Next Generation Team.  He/She will accomplish this ministry in harmony with the doctrine, vision and mission of First Baptist Church on the Square.Duties:

Duties:

  1. Oversee the Children’s Ministry of First Baptist Church, including Sunday morning, midweek, childcare, and other events and activities.
  2. Hire, equip, and oversee all levels of leadership within Children’s Ministry team (Children’s Ministry Assistant, Preschool Director, Interns)
  3. Direct in conjunction with the overall Next Generation strategy already in place.
  4. Equip parents, recruit and lead volunteers, and carry out the programs, activities, and outreach associated with children’s ministry (worship childcare, children’s worship, children’s Sunday school, VBS, Fall Festival, etc.)
  5. Prepare and operate within the approved budget for Children’s Ministries.
  6. Conduct necessary steps to ensure the ongoing safety and security of children during all programs and activities (background checks, child check-in, etc.).
  7. Coordinate with the Child Development Center (CDC) leadership to create connections with children’s ministry.
  8. Cast vision and develop strategic plans consistent, and aligned, with First Baptist Church.
  9. Strive for fresh new ideas to enhance children’s ministry. Foster a welcoming atmosphere with dreaming and continual ministry evaluation.
  10. Pray and work with all staff to develop and implement short-range and long-range ministry plans purposed toward the objective of spiritual transformation.
  11. Empower parents as the primary disciplemakers of their children.
  12. Intentionally build relationships with children and their families.
  13. Create and implement effective and ongoing communication with parents and volunteers through multiple relevant platforms.
  14. Accomplish other duties as assigned by senior leadership.

 

 General Ministerial Responsibilities:

  1. Attend staff meetings and work with all staff in promoting the entire church program of ministry.
  2. Be actively engaged as an integral part of the ministerial team to meet the overall ministerial needs of the church.

 

General Expectations:

  1. Be a teachable and enthusiastic learner.
  2. Maintain flexible working hours as determined by the needs of the ministry.
  3. Be a self-starter needing minimal supervision.
  4. Be proficient with current technology and communication tools.
  5. Be philosophically aligned with First Baptist Church vision, goals, values, policies, and Next Generation model.
  6. Foster an optimistic and fun environment for children’s ministry.
  7. Possess excellent people, leadership, and organizational skills.
  8. Have a strong desire to extend the ministry of the local church to the community through various outreaches.

 

Qualifications:

  1. Profess Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and have a vital, growing personal relationship with Him.
  2. Be an active member of First Baptist Church on the square, be in agreement with First Baptist’s Statements of Faith, and be committed to the mission and vision of the church.
  3. Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in a related field. A Seminary degree is optimal.
  4. Have related experience in family and youth/children’s ministry.
