POSITION: Associate Pastor

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Pastor

PRIMARY 

PURPOSE: The Associate Pastor serves alongside the Pastor

for the care and growth of the Church Family.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

RELATIONSHIPS: 

    • The Associate Pastor works directly under the leadership of the Pastor, assisting the Pastor with day-to-day church operations and administration allowing the Pastor to look to the overall health of the Church family.
    • The Associate Pastor serves in fellowship with the Elders for the overall growth, health, and Kingdom Service of the church family.
    • The Associate Pastor is responsible for coordinating the Church Support Staff to employ their duties/responsibilites in assisting the Church Family with the ministries of the Church. 

LEADERSHIP:

    • Along with the Pastor, provide supporting leadership for the development of the vision and operational plans of the ministries of LFF.
    • Work closely with the Pastor and Elders to identify ministry priorities which will enable LFF to move closer to our vision and mission.
    • Responsible to see that the strategic initiatives developed by the Pastor and Elders are carried out in accordance with our vision and mission.

 

 

GENERAL COMPETENCIES:

Preaching & Teaching

    • Spends quality time with God  through personal study of  Scripture and in prayer.
    • Assist the Pastor in keeping the vision and mission of the church before the congregation.
    • Will fill the pulpit for any services the Pastor is unavailable for.
    • Will Assist the Pastor in the teaching ministry of the church by overseeing and/or leading any discipleship classes, small group studies and LIFE Groups as the need or opportunity arises.
    • The Associate Pastor will assist the Pastor and Elders in developing a comprehensive Discipleship Ministry for the church family.

 

Pastoral Care

    • The Associate Pastor is to assist in providing pastoral care to the church family though the following:
      • Visiting both in the hospital and in the home
      • Giving Biblical counsel to strengthen others’ walk with Christ as the Pastor leads.
      • Engage church family in prayer ministries.
      • Assist the Pastor in responding to crisis situations which arise in the congregation.
      • Along with the Pastor and Elders ensure that the spiritual needs of the Church Family are provided for through the ministries of LFF.

Administration

    • In conjunction with the Pastor, the Associate Pastor will help oversee and exercise the service of  administration for the Church Family,
      • The Associate Pastor is to assist in maintaining an overall church calendar by coordinating with Ministry Teams’ Leadership so as to provide balance throughout the year for engaging the church family in Kingdom service.
      • The Associate Pastor will administrate the ministry areas of Discipleship/Men/Ladies/Students/children/Prayer ministries for the health well being of the Church Family. 
      • The Associate Pastor will attend Ministry Teams Leadership meetings as directed by the Senior Pastor and provide support and assistance.
      • The Associate Pastor will assist the Pastor and Elders inn assessing the needs within the church family and community for developing ministries to meet those needs.
    • The Associate Pastor functions as the immediate supervisor for the Church Supports Staff for effective work. 
      • The Associate Pastor is responsible for the overall management and implementation of F1GO as the primary tool for church administration.
      • The Associate Pastor is responsible for overseeing the communication channels to the Church family.
      • The Associate Pastor is responsible for the allocation of facilities, resources, and equipment to facilitate ministry.

 

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

    • The Associate Pastor will report directly to the Pastor in the performance of his pastoral duties.
    • The Associate Pastor will maintain a degree of accountability for his ministry performance to the congregation, the Elders, the Pastor, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
    • The Associate Pastor also recognizes a level of accountability to the community at large to represent Christ in an honorable way before them.
    • The Associate Pastor will assist the Pastor and Elders in developing a comprehensive Discipleship Ministry for the church family.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

    • As a born again believer in Jesus Christ, satisfy the Biblical qualifications for an Elder (Pastor). II Timothy 3; Titus 1; I Peter 5:14
    • As a Covenant member of LFF, exercise a lifestyle that is consistent with the mission of the church.
    • As a minister of the Gospel of Christ, model love for the church and your family.
