"[1 Timothy 3:1-7; Titus 1:5-9; 1 Peter 5:1-3; Acts 20:28-31]
The pastor will lead the church in accordance with the tenants contained in the above scripture and let the Holy Spirit guide him and the church to function effectively as a New Testament Church. The pastor is the leader of worship, education, and pastoral ministry. His duties include witnessing to the lost, counseling and teaching, ministering to the bereaved, sick, and infirmed."
Wilson's Mills Baptist's pastor of 33 years retired early in 2020 as covid was ravishing our land. The church membership made the decision to participate with the NC Baptist State Convention Intentional Interim Ministry. Our interim minister served WMBC from August 2020 through the end of December 2021. Because of the pastor's retirement and the covid shutdown mandates, some members left and/or remained in their homes and have not returned. Though the number of attending members is smaller, the core leadership is still present. The church members have encouraged each other to remain focused on the Lord, Jesus Christ who has promised "never will I leave you."
We find that we have many leadership needs, given the fact that we have a year round daycare with a large enrollment between 95-115 children, depending on school or summer break. The daycare (The ARK) currently runs a summer program for the children.
In addition, a private Christian school has approached WMBC with a request to rent some of the classrooms from Monday-Thursday.
Strong leadership is needed to navigate our congregation through the many decisions that must be made about the church's needs.
