Bi-Vocational Pastor Job Description and Key Responsibilities:

The Bi-Vocational Pastor serves as the spiritual leader of the church and is responsible for spiritual leadership and pastoral care in accordance with Mt Calvary Baptist Church By-laws.

The overall responsibility, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, is to lead members and attenders to a closer and deeper relationship with God, and as such this role requires a deep commitment to faith, biblical preaching out of the King James Bible and a passion for guiding the congregation in spiritual growth.

We are looking for a candidate who conforms to the qualifications found in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.

These are the key responsibilities that Mt Calvary Baptist Church is looking for in a Bi-Vocational Pastor.

Spiritual Leadership:

• Prepare and deliver Christ-centered, Bible-based sermons each week, two Sunday Services and one Wednesday Service.

• Collaborate with ministerial staff and music leader to coordinate a cohesive and spiritually meaningful, weekly worship service.

• Prepare Bible studies and teachings that are biblically sound and relevant to our congregation.

• Develop, execute, and communicate the church’s mission and vision by aligning ministerial activities with the church’s overall goals for spiritual and physical growth.

Pastoral Care:

• Provide spiritual guidance and counselling to our congregation and our community.

• As the Lord Leads You visit shut-in members in hospitals, nursing homes and private residences. Visit and comfort bereaved families. Offer spiritual support and prayer during these visits.

• Reach out to visitors, new members and newly baptized members with either a call or a quick visit to provide spiritual guidance.

• Organize a Sunday Communion Service along with the church deacons regularly.

• Volunteer along with the congregation for special church events such as VBS, Fall Festival and Revivals.

• Administer sacraments such as baptisms and funerals.

• Promote and foster a sense of community within the congregation and encourage outreach efforts into the community.

   

Job Qualifications:

• Five or more years of experience in pastoral ministry in a role that involved preaching

• Currently an ordained minister.
