Job Description Title: Family Life Pastor

Reports to: Senior Pastor

This position is to carry out the mission of Royston Baptist Church in the area of ministering God’s Word to and among families. The Family Life Pastor will provide pastoral care for the generations of the church by overseeing the youth ministries to ensure that the family of God is working together to make disciples of the next generation. He is a shepherd for parents of the young people because it is their duty in God’s orderly design to train, disciple and raise their children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. He provides pastoral care for the young (children, youth). He ministers among other mature adults because they have an important role in the discipleship and mentoring of parents and young people alike.

• Mature and growing relationship with Jesus
• Fulfill the Biblical qualifications for a pastor
• Possess a passion to make disciples
• Able to clearly communicate and articulate the gospel
• Committed to the sufficiency of Scripture
• Possess a passion for the health and maturity of the local church
• A healthy balance of work and rest in their life
• A person of integrity who has a good reputation with those inside and outside of the church

• Strong abilities and experience in equipping leaders and working with teams
• Ability to connect relationally with parents and children
• Preferably having or working toward a post-graduate degree in a theological discipline

• At least 5 years working with youth (i.e. grade school-college)
• Ordained

Areas of Responsibility

The Family Life Pastor will oversee the discipleship systems for children and youth ministries. The pastor will work to develop discipleship leaders to ensure that parents are prepared to lead their children and that young people have spiritual mentors when their parent cannot be the model.

Summary of Position

Duties

• Oversee relational and biblical ministries to children, youth, and their parents
• Ensure that the curriculum used at each level of spiritual development connects to the next level and is faithful to the aim of the Bible as a whole
• Develop ministry teams for each area to co-lead in those areas (children and youth)
• Develop a consistent ministry that focuses on teaching the Bible and demonstrates living out the Christian faith
• Be active in local school systems/groups.

Parent Training

• Develop and implement a plan for on-going parent training and encouragement
• Oversee discipleship that focuses on biblical roles and responsibilities of parents
